You only really need to be concerned if you are darker skinned and live in cooler climates where sun exposure is minimal.
It's no surprise that when we are outside in the sun we feel better; vitamin D boosts our levels of serotonin. Even artificial bright light will boost serotonin secretion; that is the power of light on mood. If you spend a lot of time indoors or away from the sun, you may be lacking vitamin D and it will be hitting your moods hard.
