Lower Back Pain In Young Adults -- What Happened?

In today’s society, most young adults don't expect to suffer from back pain, it's usually associated with people who are much older. However, in your mid twenties to early thirties, it's possible to suddenly start experiencing lower back pain. This kind of soreness can be very debilitating.

Back Muscle Strain

One of the most common causes of lower back pain in young adults, back strain is often caused by lifting heavy objects, excessive exercising, sudden movements or twisting into an awkward position. The muscles and ligaments in the back can stretch or tear due to excess activity.

Degenerative Disc Disease

Lumbar degenerative disc disease can affect individuals as young as 20. When the lumbar discs between your vertebrae begin to break down, the damaged disc can cause painful inflammation and slight instability in the lower back, which brings about muscle spasms and sometimes sciatica. Degenerative disc disease is common and is often successfully treated.

Lumbar Herniated Disc

A herniated disk refers to a problem with one of the rubbery disks between the vertebrae that stack up to form your spine. You can have a herniated disk without even knowing it, but sometimes a slipped disk can be really really painful. It causes a pain commonly known as Sciatica. Sciatica happens when a nerve root in the lower spine is compressed, causing pain and numbness to travel along the large sciatic nerve that serves the buttocks, legs and feet.

How to relieve lower back pain effectively?

Rest your back, but not necessarily your whole body.

Resting your back when it hurts seems like a great idea to reduce your pain, right? After all, movement tends to trigger a painful reaction in sore back muscles. Many sources of advice recommend anything from 2 days to 2 weeks of rest to ease discomfort.

Gentle stretching.

While you don't want to continue activities that trigger sharp pain in your back, and you don't want to just go to bed, gentle stretching can provide relief from lower back pain and get you moving more comfortably.

Break up periods of sitting with movement.

If your back pain is the result of too many hours chained to your desk, namely being sedentary, you may come home to find your back sore and aching by the end of the day. The critical thing here is to move MORE not less.

Also, being sedentary in the office can lead to the painful symptoms, and may also bring pressure to your bladder and prostate gland, thus leading to urinary congestion. If this is the case, you may suffer from prostatitis due to this bad habits, in which the herbal medicine Diuretic and Anti-inflammatory Disease is helpful.
